HISTORY

Born in San Diego to Lt. Hawkins of the SPD, and Dr. Amelia Hawkins, reknowned genetics expert, Gabe had a very good life as a child. His parents loved him dearly, he had many friends, and even got along with his older sister Sarah occasionally. It was through his father, the man he idolized as a child, that Gabe garnished more than a respect but a love for the law. It wasn't commondations, medals, or stories that made Gabe want to be an officer, but the way the people his father helped out were so thankful, even if it was just how they looked at them. Gabe wanted to be that kind of man. One who protected the weak, and made those who broke the law pay.

As he grew older, Gabe learned everything he could that would gain him a position on the police force when he was old enough. However, his world was changed forever when a Federation Recruiter came to his high school. His eyes were opened up to the Universe beyond the world he knew. Gabe cracked down double hard in the books, knowing he would need to bring his grades up, and double hard on his Chin Na exercises and training. Like his Master always told him, harden the body and temper the mind.

Gabe took the Academy instantly, because he knew this was his final step into actually beginning his life's dream. On his security exams and classes he was the most dedicated student in his unit. He attacked assignments, not just completed them. He displayed a hidden talent for psychology, a skill he always applied to investigation and criminal theory. In his physcial training he would push himself by sheer will alone, always testing his own metal in every exercise. However, when it came to his science classes, Gabe was as average as they came. He passed his tests from pure amounts of studying, but never with high marks. If it was not for a Vulcan student who helped tutor him, Gabe may not have graduated at all.

Upon Graduation from StarFleet Academy, Gabe Hawkins graduated in the top 30% of his class. It was noted on his reviews that his investigative techniques and instincts where some of the highest rated. Because of a recommendation from one of his Security Instructors, Gabe was scent to a Colony in the Vega system on Lias 5. They always needed good security officers there because the Orion Pirate Syndicate was said to operate heavily in that area. During his time there, Gabe gained all sorts of experience, from dealing with irrate politicians, to investigating smuggling rings. However, Gabe started his first real case when a serial killer began leaving the slashed up bodies of Dabo girls around the colony. It took two weeks, but Gabe never gave up before he found the killer. He hardly slept and his relentless investigation flushed the criminal out, an Orion trader named Drausk. Gabe finally cornered Drausk as he was on his way for another victim. After a grueling, and bloody fight, Gabe ended up carrying the beaten Drausk back to a holding cell over his shoulder, himself covered in slashes and blood from Drausk's knife. The Chief of Security CSO Mooreheed put in a recommendation for Gabe because of his good work, and it went through, causing him to be transferred about the Steamrunner Class starship USS Firestorm. Now he truly is going to live the life he always wanted.

Appendum: Stardate 49905.17:

While the USS Firestorm was en-route to the Saxatogue system to render assistance to the USS Trafalgar, the ship was diverted towards a Class II Pulsar to remain concealed from a small fleet of Jem'Hadar vessels. While the Firestorm was hidden within the nebula, a Dominion spy that had been placed on the Firestorm attempted to flee the vessel with a shipment of compoundes needed to create a biogenic weapon. Hawkins, believing that the spy was a Starfleet Officer, boarded the shuttlecraft at the spy's invitation; only to learn of her treachery after leaving the Steamrunner-class vessel.

While held aboard one of the Dominion vessels, Hawkins was the subject of an expiramental process the Dominion was testing that would transform the species of the Alpha Quadrant into Jem'Hadar footsoldiers. Hawkins was able to escape, and return to the Firestorm in his disfigured appearance, where Chief Science Officer John Steel and Science Officer Maxwell Kepler were able to stabilize his condition.

During the crisis on Starbase 375 resulting from the proximity of a Taellon Psi-Probe, the genetic matierial that had spliced itself onto Hawkins' genetic code allowed him to remain uneffected by the probe's effects, allowing him to lend assistance in preventing those affected from causing harm. After the Firestorm's crew disabled the probe, Hawkins was sent to Starfleet Medical, where the remaining Jem'Hadar genes were purged from his system.
