HISTORY
Aileen was born into a relatively large Irish Catholic family that she remains very close to. From earliest childhood, Aileen was proficient in math and science, and was something of a stargazer. Her interests eventually turned to biology. Her fascination with the human body would later extend to that of alien races and cultures. She was also an accomplished pianist at a very early age, a combination of her mother's urging and her own natural ability. Her teenage years were typically rebellious, particularly about piano, and she stopped playing altogether for a time, though her studies in science were unaffected. She calmed considerably when she realized her ambition to join Starfleet.
Her family was, to say the very least, disappointed in her decision, and fought to keep her out of the Academy. Aileen was forced to stay at home. Her parents had always encouraged her musical studies, and during the time between high school and her eventual enrollment at the Academy, she continued to perform as a concert pianist, using her skill as an excuse to travel. Though accomplished, she was unable to satisfy herself with music, and her visits to faraway starbases for performances only heightened her longing to join Starfleet. Finally, her brothers convinced her mother and father to allow her to attend the Academy.
At the Academy, she distinguished herself as an ambitous and bright student, though her personal life was extremely quiet. She had few friends and was something of a loner. Practical and methodical, she was a careful researcher and a fast learner, and moved quickly through her classes. Her love of stargazing transferred to her interst in Astronomy at the Academy, and she chose Biology and Anthropology for her areas of major interest. She was happy at the Academy, and for the first time felt she truly belonged. Her graduation held mixed feelings, but she is determined not to look back and intends to make the very best of her first post, on the USS Firestorm.
